Who We Are

SABLE MATULA,
Painting & Drawing Specialist

Sable Matula ia an artist and art historian with experience researching and documenting a wide spectrum of antique and modern artworks. She brings a studied connoiseurship to the art selections of Collection W, and creates detailed, insightful catalog descriptions for worthy paintings and drawings.

Ms. Matula’s education includes a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Studio Art from Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois, did Post Baccalaureate studies at The School of the Museum of Fine Art in Boston, Massachusetts, and received Master of Fine Art (MFA) from Boston University College of Fine Art in Boston.

WILLIAM JANOSCO,
Ethnographic Art Specialist

William Janosco is an artist and art historian, with a strong background in ethnographic art as well as 19th and 20th century American art.  For several years he was a photo researcher at the Ryerson Library of the Art Institute of Chicago, and then went on to become Director of the Library of the Terra Museum of American Art.  He was co-owner of the Fenway Galleries of Chicago and Lakeside, Michigan, where he specialized in selecting and researching ethnographic art and objects from Africa, India and China. He brings this expertise to Collection W, seeking out excellent examples of each genre.

William holds both a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  As a fine artist, his paintings are in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago and corporate collections including the Kirklin Clinic at the University of Alabama.

BRUCE WOOD,
Manager, Conservator & Auctioneer

Bruce Wood manages the daily and online operation of Collection W. With a background as an artist, art conservator, licensed auctioneer, and art gallery owner, he draws upon over 45 years of art experience when examining individual pieces and collections. He holds both a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

As an art conservator specializing in oil paintings, he is a member of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works, based in London. His activities include forensic examination of artworks to help determine authenticity.
